Lisa Joanes

Lisa Joanes is a nature and wildlife artist living in the beautiful High Weald countryside of Sussex.

She has always felt a special connection with wildlife and was encouraged from an early age to look at the natural world with curiosity and fascination. Some of her favourite childhood memories are of poking around among the garden bushes and flowers with her Nan, searching for weird and wonderful insects and other little creatures to identify.

That early fascination grew into a desire to draw and recreate the intricate details, colours and textures of feathers, scales and fur. Art gave Lisa a way to capture all the things she found too wonderful to describe in words.

Her love of art led her to study illustration at Arts University Bournemouth, where she developed a particular fondness for traditional drawing techniques using pencils and paints. Although much of her working life is now spent creating digital artwork, during the Covid lockdown she returned to traditional materials, drawing pet portraits and finally finding time for some of the animals she had always wanted to illustrate.

Lisa is also Earthful’s in-house designer, and her nature-inspired artwork can be found across many of our much-loved T-shirt designs.
