Collection: Christine Iverson

Christine Iverson’s work is rooted in the hedgerows of the Sussex Downs. After moving to a Downland village in 2001, she developed a deep fascination with the plants growing quietly along lanes and field edges, and the folklore woven around them.

Her interest led her to volunteer as an apothecary at the Weald and Downland Living Museum, where she introduced school children to the world of medieval and Tudor medicine. Wanting to explore further, she began researching and writing about the folklore and superstitions of hedgerow plants, regularly contributing to her local parish magazine and sharing this knowledge within her community.

Christine now runs folklore and foraging workshops at Tuppenny Barn Organics and gives talks to local Women’s Institutes and horticultural societies. Her work bridges practical plant knowledge with the stories and traditions that have travelled alongside it for generations.

At Earthful, her voice and work reflect a shared respect for land-based wisdom, seasonal awareness and the quiet richness found in the plants growing close to home.
