{"title":"Lisa Joanes","description":"\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLisa Joanes is a nature and wildlife artist living in the beautiful High Weald countryside of Sussex.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eShe has always felt a special connection with wildlife and was encouraged from an early age to look at the natural world with curiosity and fascination. Some of her favourite childhood memories are of poking around among the garden bushes and flowers with her Nan, searching for weird and wonderful insects and other little creatures to identify.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat early fascination grew into a desire to draw and recreate the intricate details, colours and textures of feathers, scales and fur. Art gave Lisa a way to capture all the things she found too wonderful to describe in words.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHer love of art led her to study illustration at Arts University Bournemouth, where she developed a particular fondness for traditional drawing techniques using pencils and paints. The Wren is widely known in Celtic folklore as the druid bird. They symbolise prophecy, cunning and a scared link to the otherworld. Most people would describe Jackdaws as predominantly black, but in this drawing I wanted to capture the surprisingly blueish grey sheen that reflects on the feathers in certain lights along with the Jackdaw’s quizzical yet knowing expression in those silvery pale blue eyes.
